Graphic Design Faculty Show

A group exhibition showcasing recent graphic design work of RU Art
faculty.Edward LeShock was educated
at Pennsylvania State University, Tyler School of Art, and others. In
addition to a career as a commercial illustrator for clients such as
Begues, Playboy, and the U.S. Defense Department, he has exhibited in
Tel Aviv, New York City, Miami, Portsmouth, Richmond, and Roanoke.
John O'Connor has taught at Radford for five years, and he has
been a freelance illustrator and designer for the past 19 years. Mr.
O'Connor has worked for many companies such as Pfizer, G.E., and
Warner-Lambert. He specializes in 3D illustration and his work has been
published in numerous illustrator and creative source books.
Kevin Smith received his BFA from Auburn University and MFA from
Louisiana Tech University before moving to Radford University in 2005.
He exhibits in national shows and also freelances with print and
multimedia clients. His work was recently published in CMYK magazine for
photography.
Katherine E. Irwin is an adjunct professor with the Art
Department at RU after retiring from a 30-year career in University
Publications. Kitty worked for many years as the Director of Creative
Services at Radford University building a Graphic Design Unit and
mentoring an award-winning design staff. |

Mexican Masks: las manos
magicas
Thursday, October 13 through Tuesday, December 6, 2005
Reception: Thursday, October 13 at 5 p.m.
Las manos magicas will consider three realms of masking: Representations
of man, the animal kingdom, and the supernatural. The exhibition will
also feature the creation of an ofrenda (altar) during the celebration
of El Dia de Los Muertos (the Day of the Dead). The exhibition is part
of RU's Latin American Cultures Festival. |

Powell Hall
Born in Ukraine, Gubin came to the United States in 1989 to find
artistic freedom. His new work celebrates the New York that he has come
to know and love. |

Art Walk
Monday October 24
The third annual RU Art Museum Art Walk will be held on Monday, October
24, 2005, to coincide with two openings at the RU Art Museum Downtown
that evening: Beyond the Tartan VIII: Khurran Asghar and K-12: Where All Art
Begins (see below for times). The Martin Gallery and Gallery 205 on
campus in Powell Hall will remain open that night until 8 p.m. |
